Entitlement vs Relationship

Entilement :-the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.

Relationship:-the way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave towards each other.

As we close the year 2022, for the first time in a very long time, l took a leave from work.
1st because l am tired, emotionally, physically. And only my Spiritual has kept me going. As l rest, my mind been thinking about 2023, taking into consideration of life in 2022 and years before it. I realized my life been governed by these two words.
Our lives are lived out of these two worlds. One thing l know is that entitlement removes responsibility from self, it stops you from self development, it gives power to the other, it builds resentment and hatrage in families. It’s centered on one’s belief. The key danger is that belief is personal, if the other does not believe like you, you set up yourself for disaster.
Relationship is based on a mutual understanding, respect and love. It builds up the others, it feels for the other. It gives back, it’s grateful and never impose.
As l reflect on these, l have decided to invest in relationships that are not centered on entitlement. How about you? Will you go into 2023 with an entitlement mentality or relational mentality?
